Rory Mcilroy is up against Lee Westwood in the very important semi finals of WGC Match play which will be held in Arizona.

If either of the two players end up winning the tournament then Luke Donald of England will have to give up his number one position to him.

Lee Westwood had to beat Martin Laird in the quarter finals to make it against Rory Mcilroy. It was not an easy match for him as he lost the first hole against the Scotsman but ended up winning the match four and two. Rory Mcilroy on the other hand had to get past Sang-Moon Bae to make it to the semi finals.

On the other hand, Hunter Mahan of USA is up against Mark Wilson of the same country in the other semi final. Hunter Mahan had to beat Matt Kuchar in order to secure his place in the top 4 of the tournament. His opponent Mark Wilson had to beat Peter Hanson of Sweden in order to make it to the semi finals.

The semi final between Rory Mcilroy and Lee Westwood is deemed to be the most interesting one. It should have been the finals according to most of the pundits but then that is they way of life. It is going to be a very interesting contest of golf and the winner is sure to go ahead and win the tournament.

Both Rory Mcilroy and Lee Westwood have seen off good competitors to make it to the semi final and hence are in good shape and form having played good and consistent golf the past week. This will make the semi final even more interesting. The scales are slightly tilted in the favour of Rory Mcilroy though who is expected to win this tough and exciting draw.
